Tom Lane and Dave Start set up the 'Write a Lincolnshire Folk Song Contest' in 1992, and had strong links with BBC Radio Lincolnshire who always recorded the Finals Night for later broadcast. Subsequently, in 2015, the BBC took the contest over and until 2020 broadcast each Finals night with a three hour live show.

Tom and Dave are now back in charge and supported by Mary White, Kate Mitchell & Daffyd Robinson. We hope that this organising group will continue to deliver a fantastic song competition.

Tom broadcast BBC Lincolnshire's folk show for 35 years. Mary and Dave are well known in local folk singing, music and ceilidh circles. Mary is one of the organisers of Grimsby Folk Club, where Dave is one of the MCs.
